Panini Sandwich Receipes

Panini,known as Panino in Italy, are small sandwiches made of dense bread,such as sourdough, ciabatta, or for a larger sandwic you can use sub buns. You can use almost any type of filling to make them healthy and delicious. You can have them for Breakfast, lunch and Dinner

For the Breakfast Panini, this is a receipe that you might want to try. On sourdough bread put on some cheddar cheese, scrambled eggs, sausage ,bacon, or ham. Brush outside of bread with olive oil and put in a Panini press. This will make a very good and satisfying breakfast.

To make a pizza style panini for lunch or dinner I use 2 rounds of pita bread, Put pizza sauce mozzarella cheese, pepperoni onions, peppers and mushrooms one 1 side thenput other round over , brush with olive oil and put in the sandwich press..You can use any ingredients that you use on any pizza.

Veggie Paninis are especially good. You can use most all veggies for a pressed sandwich. If you are using hard veggies such as bell peppers, onions ,squash ,you should grill them a bit to soften them up,and they will taste much better . As with most presses sandwiches you shoul put them on a dense bread such as sourdouigh,ciabatta,or a sub bun.

If you like beef, you can use leftover prime rib, roasr beef, or any tender cut of beef that has been cooked. Layer the beef with swiss cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms and top with horseradish sauce. Use a sub bun or ciabatta bread for this one.

Thin sliced roast pork with provolone cheese,saurkraut and stone ground mustard on ciabatta bread makes a great tasting sandwich.

You can also make a pressed Cuban sandwich. If you do not have cuban roast pork you can make it this way and it will taste the same. use genoa salami, ham, and deli sliced turkey breast with hamburger dill chips and yellow mustard. If you do not have cuban bread you can use french bread.( the long thin loaf) cut to size.

Another great sandwich is the pressed muffuletta. I make this on a sub bun with olive salad, cooked salami,genoa ,ham and provolone cheese.

If you do not have a sandwich press you can use a 1lb. or more weight, put on the sandwich in a frying pan or griddle. I like to use a regular electric panini sandwich press, because the heat is preset on most models. That way you cannot burn up your sandwich unless you leave it on too long.
